Blog #32 Like pulling teeth - 28/08/2009My youngest daughter Bec has had the unfortunate experience of having four teeth taken out this week to prepare for the highlight of every child’s dream which is to have train track braces to go back to school with. How different things are now when it is more unusual not to have braces or glasses at a young age. Even people with ginger hair now feel confident about themselves and if you have got ginger hair, a brace and glassed, you are now one of the coolest. I am sure that it wasn’t the same in my day. It certainly wasn’t cool to have national health specs! Last year when we launched Financial Planning Week, www.financialplanningweek.org.uk, it was like pulling teeth getting members to help us with case studies and for the personal finance magazines to be interested in what we are doing. This year things couldn’t have been more different and there is still more time to contribute as TV and radio look for new ideas to present Financial Planning to their audience. I would be really interested in your ideas as well. I am just amazed at the number of special interest group websites there are, having just written an article for www.iamstaggered.com which is a website for surprise surprise, stags and all the things that they need to do to prepare to get married. The viral effect of this year’s campaign with so much more online coverage should really help us beat our objectives. If you are able to put a link on your website to Financial Planning Week please email louise@financialplanning.org.uk to get the logo and links etc. Children tend to have an honest reaction to stuff and I presented my children with some music which a former colleague’s son had written for a female pop star. I thought that it was ok but Rhys thought that it “sucked” which I duly fed back. He was surprised that I had been so honest and perhaps I am learning. Why don’t you listen and see what you think and add your own comments. http://indiestore.7digital.com/francescaarthur/ Bank holiday ahead and inevitable rain. Vegetable garden now in desperate need of some attention but full social diary and also back at gym and experimenting with the apparatus (I am sure that I should be able to find a website to help) so that I can be ready for “fit for the future” in a few weeks (I should be so lucky) time www.ifpconference.org.uk Enjoy the weekend and make sure that all the satchels are packed for back to school next week.
